Fertility

Fertility evaluations, ovulation induction, IUI, IVF support, and fertility preservation

Hormonal fertility assessment

Understanding fertility starts with a hormonal profile. Tests such as FSH, LH, estradiol, AMH, prolactin, and TSH help evaluate ovarian reserve and endocrine balance. This assessment, timed with the menstrual cycle, guides the best treatment options when conception is difficult.

Ultrasound fertility assessment

A transvaginal pelvic ultrasound evaluates uterine morphology, ovarian reserve, and the presence of cysts or endometriosis. It is a key step in diagnosing fertility challenges and planning personalized treatment.

Tubal patency – HyCoSy

HyCoSy is a non-invasive in-office procedure that uses ultrasound and contrast to check if the fallopian tubes are open. It avoids X-rays and iodine injections, making it a safer alternative to traditional hysterosalpingography. It is particularly useful in unexplained infertility or before intrauterine insemination.

Ovulation induction

When ovulation does not occur regularly, medical treatment can help stimulate it. Close ultrasound monitoring ensures correct dosage and prevents complications such as overstimulation. This approach is often used in PCOS or oligo/anovulation.

Monofollicular stimulation

This gentle method aims to produce a single mature follicle for timed intercourse or intrauterine insemination. It increases the chances of pregnancy while minimizing the risk of multiples.

Intrauterine insemination (IUI)

IUI involves placing prepared sperm directly into the uterus at the time of ovulation. It is a simple and painless procedure, recommended for mild sperm abnormalities, unexplained infertility, or in combination with ovulation stimulation.

In-vitro fertilization (IVF)

Dr. Sarantakos supports patients undergoing IVF, in collaboration with accredited fertility centers in Switzerland and abroad. Local follow-up includes ovarian stimulation, monitoring, and endometrial preparation, while procedures such as egg retrieval and embryo transfer are coordinated with the chosen center.

Fertility preservation

For women who wish to preserve fertility before medical treatments or for personal reasons, options include egg or embryo freezing. In collaboration with accredited centers, stimulation and egg retrieval are organized with professional support every step of the way.
